President's Welcome
We have all heard the phrase, "Welcome to the first day of the rest of your life". Over time it's become a throwaway line, but what if it were true. What if there was a day that changed everything?
Leadership Manhattan Beach is the premier leadership training program for professionals, students and people interested in getting more involved in our community.
To date, over 600 men, women, and students from our community have taken this path. They come from all walks of life. Some are captains of industry, attorney's, doctors, engineers, stay at home moms, dads and the most amazing teens I have had the pleasure to know, all incredibly bright and talented in their own right.
LMB offers a nine-month program in which 25 individuals come together to develop and hone their leadership abilities.
The first stage of the program is a combination of community education, leadership training, and experiential excursions where the participants interact with key leaders in the community and begin the development and refinement of their leadership skills.
Class Retreat
Discover your personal leadership style, learn to operate as a unit through team-building activities, and develop skills for interacting effectively at different levels within an organization.
Lessons and Exercises
Learn about Manhattan Beach, its history, current issues, volunteer and leadership opportunities in the city. Class focus is on Manhattan Beach’s education and health sectors, local government, the business community, and environmental features.
Field Trips
See how Leadership concepts apply in real business environments, such as the Manhattan Beach Police and Fire Departments, Northrop Grumman, the Water Basin Reclamation Plant, the Manhattan Beach Unified School District, the El Segundo Power Plant, and Chevron Petroleum.
Both our Police and Fire Chiefs along with many of their command staffs are LMB Alumni. Many of our Alumni have and do hold seats on City Council and on city Commissions. In fact, currently, there are fourteen LMB Alumni sitting on Commissions.
If you are interested in learning more about our amazing city or get more involved in community politics, Leadership Manhattan Beach is for you.
