President’s Welcome

On behalf of the LMB Board of Directors and our wonderful alumni, I welcome you to apply for our upcoming class. LMB was founded in 1991 by two talented community leaders, Paul Allman and Russ Lesser with the following purpose:

“To develop and unite existing and aspiring community leaders in the Manhattan Beach community.”

The “develop” aspect of our purpose is fulfilled through our 9-month class. We seek adults and high school students eager to learn about how the city works and become further involved in improving our community. Personally, prior to LMB I was a community member that trusted that our City government worked well, and our community was well supported by our philanthropic organizations. By going through LMB I learned there was plenty of opportunity for improvement and ways each member of our community can help make a difference. I am hoping that you can join our LMB community to help make a difference.

The “unite” aspect of our purpose is to bring together our alumni to encourage continued community engagement as well as keeping connected. It is also focused on working with the City of Manhattan Beach and other philanthropic organizations to facilitate cross organizational communications and to identify candidates for the LMB class.

I encourage you to take the steps to learn more about LMB and apply for our class.
